ARMY INSTITUTE OF NURSING GUWAHATI

GENESIS
Army Institute of Nursing, Guwahati was established in the year 2006 under aegis of Army Welfare Education Society for the wards of serving and exservicemen of Indian Army with a annual intake of 40 students per year. As a welfare measure, towards people residing in north east region, 10% seats are reserved for the civilian girls who are domicile of seven North East States. It was a landmark in the history of Nursing Education when this college was inaugurated on 07 Aug 2006 by Gen J J Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Army Staff.
AFFLIATION
Army Institute of Nursing Guwahati is affiliated to Gauhati University. From the academic year 2010 – 2011 the Institute is affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam. The Institute is recognized and approved by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Assam Nurses’ Midwives and Health Visitors Council.
LOCATION
Army Institute of Nursing is located within the precincts of 151 Base Hospital located at Basistha, Guwahati. This institute is well connected by rail, road and air.
PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of Army Institute of Nursing, Guwahati is to prepare students to be professionals in nursing and health care and to emphasize in the spirit to serve humanity with DEDICATION, DEVOTION and DILIGENCE.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of AIN Guwahati are:
(a) To provide a comprehensive system of education to impart thorough knowledge of nursing sciences with adequate practice in the field to prepare students to be highly
competent and confident nurses.
(b) To maintain the highest standards of education in nursing through an innovative and practical approach to provide service to the society.
(c) To develop teaching and supervisory skills in nursing, health care and administration in hospitals.
OUR ASPIRATIONS
The aspirations of AIN are expressed as Dedication, Devotion and Diligence.The distinct AIN emblem has Rising Sun, The Lotus And A Burning Lamp. Rising sun dispels darkness; it is the ray of hope, energy and challenge for a brighter future and a better tomorrow. It is also represents the North – east and Eastern Command under which AIN is established. Burning Lamp wipes away the darkness of ignorance and brightens the pathway of knowledge. It also represents the LADY WITH THE LAMP – Florence Nigtingale – the pioneer of modern Nursing.
